Possession of Narcotic drugs such as cocaine and crack cocaine is a felony in Arizona. The law that prohibits the possession of these drugs is A.R.S. section 13-3408. The law states that a person shall not:
- Knowingly
- Possess
- A Narcotic Drug
A conviction for Possession of Narcotic Drugs carries a mandatory fine. The law states in addition to any other penalty prescribed
- “the court shall order a person who is convicted…pay a fine of not less than two thousand dollars or three times the value as determined by the court of the narcotic drugs involved in or giving rise to the charge, whichever is greater…A judge shall not suspend any part or all of the imposition of any fine required by this subsection.
